RESEARCH TOPICS (with indications of the location where they are developed):
• Algebra: group theory, theory of Lie algebras and their representations (MILANO BICOCCA); category theory (PAVIA). Geometry: algebraic geometry (PAVIA); real and complex differential geometry (PAVIA and MILANO-BICOCCA), symplectic geometry (MILANO-BICOCCA) and hyperbolic geometry (PAVIA).• Mathematical Analysis: partial differential equations, control and optimization theory, nonlinear and functional analysis (MILANO-BICOCCA and PAVIA); harmonic ad geometric analysis (MILANO-BICOCCA); variational models and techniques, calculus of variations (PAVIA).
• Numerical Analysis and Mathematical Modelling: study of numerical methods (such as finite elements, isogeometric and virtual techniques) aimed at solving partial differential equations in the context of solid mechanics, fluid dynamics, interaction between fluids and structures, electromagnetism, and finalized to applications in engineering and biomathematics; computer aided design, approximations of data and functions, numerical linear algebra (MILANO-BICOCCA and PAVIA).
• Mathematical Physics: special materials, fluid mechanics and kinetic theory (PAVIA); geometric theory of integrable systems and dynamical systems (MILANO BICOCCA). Probability and statistics: Bayesian statistics, quantum probability, convergence of probability measures, finitely additive probability measures (PAVIA); statistical mechanics (MILANO-BICOCCA and PAVIA); financial mathematics and stochastic control theory (MILANO-BICOCCA).
